Something purple

I made this charm months ago for Bozsomati. The instruction I received was "something purple".

I am not a big fan of charms or anything that is for making a phone look more beautiful.

A phone is to make calls on it and nothing more. For me it is not a piece of fashion, not part of my outfit, and most of all not a status symbol.

For many long years I used to have the ugliest but most useful phone. It was made of metal and rubber to make it water-, dust- and LaKukac-proof, and it managed well with my manners as falling out of my hand on stairs, in the bathtub, out of the car... But one morning when I woke up I saw that during the night somehow it ended up in a glass of juice which still to date I cannot imagine how could have happened, above all because I have been "straight edge" for the past 12 years. This was our last morning together.

Since then I have had another phone that I can throw from here to there without any problem.

But I accept that nowadays people want more from their phones, for women mostly it is to look nice and sytlish. So why not making a mobile phone charm that has "something purple"? After all, it is not for me!

A lively brooch

Green and purple - two colors that people don't usually think of as matching. But when they are paired in the right shade they can do wonders, it's the celebration of colors!

My favourite is green: light green, moss green, grass green, bluish green, "winsor" green (as I read it somewhere)... It is a very lively color and no wonder as it is also the color of life itself. Purple can be very clean and very dirty too. Here I linked the two shades with the silver bead, also a cold tone of the color palette.

I would love to see more color on people, we tend to be so boring in this sense, especially in winter. Everybody has at least one color that would bring the best out of them, go find it and wear it!

About the brooch itself: after doing all the preparation it was really fun sewing it, I just had to think well about it beforehand to have everything needed and to go step by step. It is really just a question of planning ahead. I want to make another one sometime and then publish a tutorial here so you can also make your brooch at home if you have the patience for it.

Purple haze

This lovely colourful piece was also made this weekend. It was awfully cold outside so I opted to stay in the warm house and create. Only the photos were taken outside, as you see.

I experimented a bit with the materials, this kind of string is new to me and I have used it for the first time now, I hope this is a stronger one which quality will be needed for this design. The earring itself is very light as all the beads are of wood but I wanted to be sure the string will hold on with the bend too. Also, the lock is a new thing to me, so far I only used other kinds. I will check how this one works. I am sure I can also make many other uses of it other than this.

Anayway, they remind me of someone who I considered my friend and maybe one day I will again. We'll see. Until then, I have the earrings.
