Monday Again

I am sure this is an internationally known feeling: Monday.

Honestly I can tell you I love every day of my life, I am not the kind grumbling around like "oh I hate this day". But even for me, Mondays are different.

First of all, I come back to the city, this is already a big change and as much as I enjoy living in the city on the first day of the week my head is still full of the memories of the weekend. Sometimes it can be really like stepping out of one life and stepping back into the other.

Second, I get so relaxed during the weekend that on Mondays I sometimes feel like I am the one driving 50 mph on the motorway. Sloooow!

And now, with all this sunshine outside...

I know many of us feel the same way. That's it, we must accept that Mondays are like this.

Rainy anniversary - and my first-ever jewelry set!

Yesterday we celebrated an important anniversary with my boyfriend so again we went back to the same place and to the same event as at that first time we met. It is the annual meeting of a car brand with around 20 people from across the country, combined with the 1st of May programs of the small village where it is all organized. The main event is the outside cooking competition which this year took place in unstoppable rain so we all got totally wet and cold but still were having lots of fun. Well, only until we started feeling that now it was really too much of rain and cold. We both came home feeling a bit sick. I drove back to Budapest where I work from Monday till Friday but today I stayed at home to get rid of the fever I have had since last night.

For this special day I am presenting you my first jewelry set! It is not the usual composition because I dislike things that smell from being overcomposed so it is an earrings and bracelet couple, no necklace was made. I was thinking about it but then I imagined all the three pieces worn at the same time - hm, maybe just too much... But I might make a leather necklace using the same items later on as I am sure it would look lovely too.

All the materials are natural as one can be: mineral (turquoise), untreated wood, and metal fragments and beads on an adjustable leather string in the case of the bracelet. For the earrings I also inserted crops painted in the color of dark purple onto the double metal string, which I doubled this time for a strong hold. The wooden bits were drilled on another cold and little bit of sick Sunday, my post from March here.

I am really proud of this as now I feel like I could do something that might be able to reflect the clear beauty of nature itself.

A walk in the forest

One month ago we took A walk on the beach together. Now let's go to the forest - it's springtime so this is just what I will be doing for the next few months for sure whenever I can.

There aren't many things better than nature itself. Let's follow the traces of the forest animals, listen to the song of the birds, follow our dogs to find fresh spring-water, watch out for light to find green clearings and then go back under the trees to find peace and silence.

The photos in the collage are from: Orsi Volkai, Peter Nagy and me.

Oh So Loved

For all my Hungarian readers (and those who are not Hungarian but fancy a trip to Budapest, why not ;) ) I have some exciting news: I will attend the Design Fair as an individual seller, taking place in Bálint Ház, 3 April 2011 (Sunday). Check out the site here to discover the rest of the free or discounted programs: fintess classes, concerts, talk shows and much more within the framework of the weekend-long spring festival called Nyitni Kék.

I will bring all the unsold items which I have not yet put on sale anywhere else, most of them are brand new and still smell of raw wood...

So if you see anything not made on order and that you can already clearly imagine on yourself, you can find me there, maybe that piece is only waiting for you!

As an example see here a pair of earrings, using the oh-so-loved lotus flowers.

Ugly - but still only raw

Below in the picture you can see the new raw material for my works. I have no idea what this really is, I picked and collected them some weeks ago during an excursion with my boyfriend and the two dogs in the nearby forest. They were all under a certain tree which unfortunately I do not know.

As you see, they are already drilled - thanks Peti!

I know, they don't really look nice at the moment, but believe me, after cleansing them thoroughfully and giving them some protecting lacquer coat, they will just look wonderful on a necklace coming soon!

In case anyone knows what these are, please let me know!

Winter earring

Today I compiled a shopping list before going to my usual jewelry supply shops. I was already running out of time as they were almost closing (I don't know why they close so early, at 6PM) and I had to come out of both of them without having the most important things in my hands. So I searched further and found a really great store nearby. The staff were nice and friendly, even when I entered two minutes before 6, and I found all the things I was looking for and even more! Fortunately there was not much time left to take a look around, otherwise I'm afraid I would have spent more than just whatever was on my shopping list.

But these earrings were not made today. As you see, they are also winter creatures. Again I used the lotus flower as the basis and added everything else to it. I think that paired with a matching colour and material this little crop sells just about anything - so light, so special, so feminine.

Here it is - another photo taken with the help of my two lovely (and kind of hairy) assistants: Marvin and Indy.

Oh happy day

Today was a good day in the life of La Kukac, let's see why:

1. I met the lady who was the recipient of the earrings in my post called For Gabi / Yo también and she was wearing them!
2. The necklace presented in my post For anyone out there met its new owner.
3. I learnt the origin of the crop which I used here - it is the crop of the lotus flower.
4. I wore the brand new necklace pictured below and got some compliments, thank you. Just according to my promise, it was made using the above mentioned lotus flower and some other wooden and ceramic beads applied on a leather string.

Pink breeze

Another manicure - another earring.

This time a really light, ladylike pair, so light you don't even realize it's in your ear. Two things make it special and catchy: the rose colour and the tiny crop (don't know the name in English).

I discovered this crop today and I love it so don't be surprised if you see it later again in one of my works. Easy to work with, light and lovely - makes the simplest work special.
