Kroner

I have been making jewelry for everybody else but myself recently, so I have just realized. I decided to make something only for myself this time. I wanted a bracelet that is black (because I hardly have any jewelry in black), something simple (because I love simple things) and something really ME.

As somebody collecting coins, what could be more ME than using a real coin for this piece. Moreover, this Danish Krone tells a very peculiar story.

Not so long ago I bought a new car, a used one of course. We were cleaning it inside and outside and dismantled everything in the trunk as well to be able to vacuum clean it thoroughfully. But what we found there was something nobody expected: underneath the spare tyre and all the covers was a pile of different coins, from many-many countries. The whole pile was not worth too much but represented a huge value for me: coins from Estonia, Latvia, and so on - and Denmark of course! Somehow I had not have any coins from these countries before even though they are neither far nor exotic.

I decided to keep one piece of all of them in my collection and recycle the rest in my jewelry or however I feel like.

This Krone is truly beautiful so just had to be used for my bracelet. I added a key and a shell-charm, wrapped the leather around my wrist, closed it with a clamp - the bracelet is ready!

Indy

I named this bracelet Indy after the lady who helped me at taking the shoot of it. She provided the shadow and secured the location by always standing right next to me.

She is the loveliest little lady puppy and during the week I always miss her so much!

Isn't she just beautiful?

Rainy anniversary - and my first-ever jewelry set!

Yesterday we celebrated an important anniversary with my boyfriend so again we went back to the same place and to the same event as at that first time we met. It is the annual meeting of a car brand with around 20 people from across the country, combined with the 1st of May programs of the small village where it is all organized. The main event is the outside cooking competition which this year took place in unstoppable rain so we all got totally wet and cold but still were having lots of fun. Well, only until we started feeling that now it was really too much of rain and cold. We both came home feeling a bit sick. I drove back to Budapest where I work from Monday till Friday but today I stayed at home to get rid of the fever I have had since last night.

For this special day I am presenting you my first jewelry set! It is not the usual composition because I dislike things that smell from being overcomposed so it is an earrings and bracelet couple, no necklace was made. I was thinking about it but then I imagined all the three pieces worn at the same time - hm, maybe just too much... But I might make a leather necklace using the same items later on as I am sure it would look lovely too.

All the materials are natural as one can be: mineral (turquoise), untreated wood, and metal fragments and beads on an adjustable leather string in the case of the bracelet. For the earrings I also inserted crops painted in the color of dark purple onto the double metal string, which I doubled this time for a strong hold. The wooden bits were drilled on another cold and little bit of sick Sunday, my post from March here.

I am really proud of this as now I feel like I could do something that might be able to reflect the clear beauty of nature itself.

Colorful Easter

Everything is so silent today, it is the first day you can stay outside and sunbathe in bikini.

If Easter is about celebrating peace then this is just what I am doing today: making jewelry outside in the garden with my boyfriend and our dogs around. Tomorrow we continue the same way. We will meet friendly people and talk in peace, enjoy the sun and the breeze, try on jewelry, and of course we will also take a look around at the market to collect some homemade cheese and home-grown vegetables.

Tomorrow: colorful Easter in Káptalantóti!

Egalité

I know somebody who always loses her stuff or just forgets them at home or just doesn't find them anywhere. By stuff I mean the most important things you need to carry every day: wallet, keys, cell phone and so on.

This key charm might be a bit harder to lose as I applied tiny bells on it so if you are searching in the deep ocean of your bag you can just follow the sound.

And why did I name it Egalité? Well, just take a look at the coin on it.

The simple blue bracelet

For many long years I collected fashion photography and editorial scans on my computer. I loved fashion and I loved photography so the combination of the two was really a kind of hobby. Then I lost my hard drive and all my photos on it. I started collecting again and some years later when I had a nice huge collection on another computer, I lost it all again. Then I did not start it all over partly because these two cases and partly because I was not that passionate about it any longer.

Yesterday I lost my hard drive on my work laptop too. I was not that scared or stressed about it - I already did this twice so why worry about losing things again.

In the end, we could recover most of the data and save them on the new hard drive so the end is happy.

The photos that help me present the simple blue bracelet are from many different photographers who I cannot credit as I do not have the names, but for those interested here is the list of the fashion designers: Chloé, Beige, Armani, Peter Som and Marni.

Ei nozanin

As promised, today I am showing you the first piece to get sold yesterday at the fair.

It is jingling not only because I added coins to the shell but more thanks to the tiny bells also attached. I love bold pieces of jewelry that work by themselves and do not hide in a shy way behind the clothes. This one is also like that: it dresses you up, you only need to put on a simple but elegant top, add the necklace and there you go, the outfit is ready. I think I would just underline it with a ring made by using shell as the main stone.

I wish good health and a future full of love to the recipient! Any amendments needed, just let me know and I'm there for you.

And until then, this is a handful of my latest bracelets, all collected in a coconut-shell. All natural, all colorful, all adjustable!

And all waiting for a new owner to meet tomorrow maybe.

Getxo

Some places mean more, some places you will always remember. Some places make you sad but teach you a lot, some places show you happiness, some places do all these at the same time.

This is what Getxo was for me, several years ago. Want to know where it is? Not far from Guernica, not far from San Sebastian, but very far from here.

I will go back one day to see the place again where my life took several turns, very slowly, very subtly, almost innoticeably. But it did.

Moss

It was raining today. Almost everybody was complaining but to me the changing of seasons is so amazing that I was actually happy to see rain instead of dry cold let alone snow. Rain is the start of spring, the start of a new life. Even if we have to stay inside the house for these few days I am happy about this.

Because then, soon, the sun will shine again and everything will be in bloom - I can't wait!

Eshebo

I love wood as material no matter what the end product is, furniture or jewelry or anything else. I love the touch of it, the warmth, and love to know that it is a gift from nature.

With leather sometimes I get contradictory feelings. It is natural but still, in most of the cases we must commit violence in order to get it.

Here I combined a lot of wood with a leather string of adjustable length, added a shell pendant and the tiny metal bear to bring some playfulness into the piece. Because the owner is a playful and very girly girl who at the same time can be really serious and give you just the best advice. I hope that the necklace reflects her dual personality.

Oh happy day

Today was a good day in the life of La Kukac, let's see why:

1. I met the lady who was the recipient of the earrings in my post called For Gabi / Yo también and she was wearing them!
2. The necklace presented in my post For anyone out there met its new owner.
3. I learnt the origin of the crop which I used here - it is the crop of the lotus flower.
4. I wore the brand new necklace pictured below and got some compliments, thank you. Just according to my promise, it was made using the above mentioned lotus flower and some other wooden and ceramic beads applied on a leather string.

For anyone out there

Today I wanted to make something really fast so I just poured all my beads onto the table and started to match them by colour. Of course most of them are green... I could have done earrings but this time wanted to make a really simple but lovely necklace, maybe for myself, maybe for any friend of mine, but truly without any particular purpose other than the joy of making it.

It is made of wood only on a fine white leather string. Very simple, very natural!

It can be worn as double (as I put it on) or single necklace or even as bracelet. Anyone who likes it can take it for free, you know where to find me!
