Kroner

I have been making jewelry for everybody else but myself recently, so I have just realized. I decided to make something only for myself this time. I wanted a bracelet that is black (because I hardly have any jewelry in black), something simple (because I love simple things) and something really ME.

As somebody collecting coins, what could be more ME than using a real coin for this piece. Moreover, this Danish Krone tells a very peculiar story.

Not so long ago I bought a new car, a used one of course. We were cleaning it inside and outside and dismantled everything in the trunk as well to be able to vacuum clean it thoroughfully. But what we found there was something nobody expected: underneath the spare tyre and all the covers was a pile of different coins, from many-many countries. The whole pile was not worth too much but represented a huge value for me: coins from Estonia, Latvia, and so on - and Denmark of course! Somehow I had not have any coins from these countries before even though they are neither far nor exotic.

I decided to keep one piece of all of them in my collection and recycle the rest in my jewelry or however I feel like.

This Krone is truly beautiful so just had to be used for my bracelet. I added a key and a shell-charm, wrapped the leather around my wrist, closed it with a clamp - the bracelet is ready!

Back to Reality

I am back to life, back to reality - as the song says.

Yesterday I celebrated this with another piercing. They say once you start getting a tattoo, there is no more stopping to getting more (we'll see that) and more and as I see the same seems to apply for piercings. It was just a small one now but it made me so happy!

Today I celebrated the second day of this by making this bracelet. It has been a while now that I last had worked on a bracelet even though I had several ideas on my mind.

Indy

I named this bracelet Indy after the lady who helped me at taking the shoot of it. She provided the shadow and secured the location by always standing right next to me.

She is the loveliest little lady puppy and during the week I always miss her so much!

Isn't she just beautiful?

Rainy anniversary - and my first-ever jewelry set!

Yesterday we celebrated an important anniversary with my boyfriend so again we went back to the same place and to the same event as at that first time we met. It is the annual meeting of a car brand with around 20 people from across the country, combined with the 1st of May programs of the small village where it is all organized. The main event is the outside cooking competition which this year took place in unstoppable rain so we all got totally wet and cold but still were having lots of fun. Well, only until we started feeling that now it was really too much of rain and cold. We both came home feeling a bit sick. I drove back to Budapest where I work from Monday till Friday but today I stayed at home to get rid of the fever I have had since last night.

For this special day I am presenting you my first jewelry set! It is not the usual composition because I dislike things that smell from being overcomposed so it is an earrings and bracelet couple, no necklace was made. I was thinking about it but then I imagined all the three pieces worn at the same time - hm, maybe just too much... But I might make a leather necklace using the same items later on as I am sure it would look lovely too.

All the materials are natural as one can be: mineral (turquoise), untreated wood, and metal fragments and beads on an adjustable leather string in the case of the bracelet. For the earrings I also inserted crops painted in the color of dark purple onto the double metal string, which I doubled this time for a strong hold. The wooden bits were drilled on another cold and little bit of sick Sunday, my post from March here.

I am really proud of this as now I feel like I could do something that might be able to reflect the clear beauty of nature itself.

Colorful Easter

Everything is so silent today, it is the first day you can stay outside and sunbathe in bikini.

If Easter is about celebrating peace then this is just what I am doing today: making jewelry outside in the garden with my boyfriend and our dogs around. Tomorrow we continue the same way. We will meet friendly people and talk in peace, enjoy the sun and the breeze, try on jewelry, and of course we will also take a look around at the market to collect some homemade cheese and home-grown vegetables.

Tomorrow: colorful Easter in Káptalantóti!

Piles

Do you know what it means to collect and pile up things and stuff in your room, your home, your life? It means you can lose them any day, this way or the other.

Do you know what it means to collect and pile up memories and happy moments in your days, in your years, in your life? It means you will never ever lose them, not even when you finally close your eyes not to open them up again. These memories and happy moments might pass but will live on forever, they will never be gone as they have already happened therefore cannot be taken away any more.

You better lose your stuff to start appreciating what cannot be lost.

Stop piling up and start living, please.

The simple blue bracelet

For many long years I collected fashion photography and editorial scans on my computer. I loved fashion and I loved photography so the combination of the two was really a kind of hobby. Then I lost my hard drive and all my photos on it. I started collecting again and some years later when I had a nice huge collection on another computer, I lost it all again. Then I did not start it all over partly because these two cases and partly because I was not that passionate about it any longer.

Yesterday I lost my hard drive on my work laptop too. I was not that scared or stressed about it - I already did this twice so why worry about losing things again.

In the end, we could recover most of the data and save them on the new hard drive so the end is happy.

The photos that help me present the simple blue bracelet are from many different photographers who I cannot credit as I do not have the names, but for those interested here is the list of the fashion designers: Chloé, Beige, Armani, Peter Som and Marni.

Coconut collection

Don't forget: tomorrow between 10 AM and 4 PM see you in Bálint Ház, Budapest, within the framework of the Nyitni Kék program, at the Design Fair!

And until then, this is a handful of my latest bracelets, all collected in a coconut-shell. All natural, all colorful, all adjustable!

And all waiting for a new owner to meet tomorrow maybe.

Getxo

Some places mean more, some places you will always remember. Some places make you sad but teach you a lot, some places show you happiness, some places do all these at the same time.

This is what Getxo was for me, several years ago. Want to know where it is? Not far from Guernica, not far from San Sebastian, but very far from here.

I will go back one day to see the place again where my life took several turns, very slowly, very subtly, almost innoticeably. But it did.

Bracelet alliance - Part 3.

Such a long time since I last presented a bracelet here so high time I did it again.

Christmas was long time ago too but as you see, it is not that easy to collect all the bracelet alliance pieces. One "member" was presented here and the other here later on.

The one I show you today was made for the same person who has been proposed when she was wearing my necklace for the first time (story here). The main theme of the wedding will be green, just like it is the main color of the bracelet she got from me.

Note the ring on her finger as well!

The silk bracelet

I don't have many bracelets and as you see, it is not the main thing I usually make. But the ones I have are really bold pieces sometimes and they can make a whole outfit - you put on a black top and a bracelet that stands out and that's it. The same goes to earrings of course, but bracelets are sometimes more visible.

So I made this one to have a feminine black piece. I have a black one, my roommate with whom I was living together in Italy left it in the flat after moving out which means it is not really "mine".

The beads you see here are made of the usual stuff: ceramic and wood. The double thread is textile and silk. This one goes best with a suit or a simple blazer, I wore it only once so far matched with a white blazer.

Another member of the alliance

Do you remember my post Bracelet alliance? There I told you about four similar bracelets I made for Christmas, for my three friends and myself.

The one you see here is another piece of this tiny collection, with the main shade in pale blue and silver. The beads are of course made of ceramic again. The owner is "R", the same girl who got this necklace. As you see, in my eyes she is a light blue lady even though this is not the only colour she wears of course, but for me this is the shade that best suits her.

Bracelet-alliance

Last October I was on a business trip with two of my colleagues. We had a couple of free hours in an afternoon and went to do some shopping as we had a long wishlist from the office and our family. In one shop we all received a free bracelet from the shopkeeper and we decided to found our "Bracelet-alliance" right there. This was the bracelet that inspired the Christmas present for three of my friends. I made similar, but not identical bracelets for the four of us. Each was made on the same scheme by using small black beads with three more emphasised pieces but they all wore a bit of the style of the owner thanks to these three beads that were different.

The one I show you here is mine. For myself I chose this natural, beige colour. The beads were applied on a fine silk thread but even this thin thread was too thick for some of the creamic beads so I had to work on them to enlarge the hole a bit. This is why you see some white powder on the ready piece above, this powder of course disappeared at the first wearing.

Very simple, easy-to-make bracelet, with a lot of variations. Can go with smart clothing and with casual as well, it all just depends on the three major beads. I might be doing a lot of this style later on...

Bracelet for Mum

The bracelet I made for Mum was also a present. It is of fixed size so I tried to make it slightly longer than what would fit me. As it turned out, not only our faces are alike, but also our wrists... So I took the bracelet back home with me and had to redo it.

The tiny heart was a kind of message, a little surprise from me - from someone who finds it hard to say things but prefers to show them somehow.

Mum says it's very comfortable and she doesn't really notice it because now it's just the right size: not moving but not holding too tight. I hope she doesn't only say this because she is my Mum! :)
